Soft Rot Changes the Appearance of Wood

When your roof is being attacked by soft-rot fungi, the cellulose will be destroyed and your wood will look like honeycomb. This process is much slower because these types of fungi are only active at certain temperatures. However, it can slowly undermine the structure of your roof.

How to Know If Your Roof Is Rotting

As your roof rots, it can begin to lose shingles. This can cause water to seep in and damage the rest of your roof. For this reason, you'll need to have your roof repaired or replaced by the best roofing company you can find. Otherwise, the leaks will cause damage to the rest of your home. 

There is no way to salvage wood once it has been damaged by mold. The best option is to have the material replaced. However, once your roof has been restored, there are chemicals you can apply to the newly installed wood structure that will make it more difficult for mold to grow.
